If you’re looking for a Manitoba summer day trip that feels a little slower, a little more local, and full of small discoveries, this is one to add to your list.
Just north of Gimli, tucked along Highway 222, you’ll find the Arnes Farmers Market. It’s a little unexpected, yet rustic and authentic. And that’s exactly what makes it special. An old farm yard has been converted into an extra cozy and unique atmosphere that's family-friendly!

how to find arnes farmers market
The market is located along Provincial Road 222, about 15 to 20 minutes north of Gimli, located halfway between roads 120N and 121N on the west side of the highway.
If it’s your first time visiting, here’s what to know:
- It can sneak up on you, so watch for signs along the road
- Parking is free; come early as it can get busy on peak summer weekends
- It’s an easy drive from Winnipeg, just over an hour
This is the kind of place you stumble upon once, and then make part of your summer routine.
Tip: Plan to arrive earlier in the day when it's a little cooler. You'll find more treats (be sure to grab a donut and coffee!) and the animals will be more active too!
when to visit
The Arnes Farmers Market typically runs:
- Saturdays: 9 AM to 2 PM
- Sundays: 10 AM to 2 PM
- Season: May through October
Saturdays tend to have a few more vendors and the busiest energy. Sundays are a wonderful day to stroll and relax, enjoying the atmosphere and the petting animal area, too!

what you’ll find at the market
This isn’t just a “grab your veggies and go” kind of market.
It’s a place to wander.
You’ll find:
- Fresh produce, baking, jams, and honey
- Handmade goods, clothing, soaps, and crafts
- Antiques, vintage finds, and one of a kind pieces
- Food vendors with everything from donuts to hot meals
Every weekend is a little different, with a mix of seasonal and occasional vendors.
It’s the kind of place where you don’t go with a list. You just see what you discover.

Petting animals are always a highlight at the market, for both big and little visitors! The goats are so entertaining!
a market made for families
If you’re bringing kids, plan to stay a while.
There’s more here than shopping:
- A small petting zoo with goats, pigs, and other animals
- Play areas with wooden structures and tractors
- Open space to explore and move around
It feels more like a little country outing than a quick errand.
make a day of it
One of the best parts about visiting Arnes is how easy it is to turn it into a full day.
After the market, you can:
- Head into Gimli for lunch or ice cream
- Stop at nearby beaches like Hnausa or along Lake Winnipeg
- Take the scenic drive and explore the Interlake
Bring a cooler, wear comfortable shoes, and don’t rush it.
find wheat & wildflower at the market
I’ll be at select dates throughout the season, bringing a collection of pieces designed for everyday adventures. Check my upcoming events page or instagram for updates on my schedule.
If you're new to Wheat & Wildflower:
You will want to learn how these clothes grow with your child
If you’re planning to visit, you can always order ahead and choose market pickup.

A few things to keep in mind:
- Not all vendors accept cards, so bringing cash is helpful
- The market is outdoors, so dress for the weather
- You may want a reusable bag. You’ll likely need it

planning your visit
If you’ve never been, this is your sign.
The Arnes Farmers Market slowing down, letting your kids explore, finding something unexpected, and heading home with a bag full of things you didn’t plan to buy.
And somehow, those are always the best days.
